Note: Clover can only accept gift cards from clover. No 3rd Party gift cards allowed

Order gift cards

1.  log in to the Web Dashboard.
2. Select Gift Cards from the menu.
3. Click Order Gift Cards
4. Select the card option you want and fill out the onscreen instructions to complete your order.

Set Gift Cards permissions

The Gift Cards app permissions are located in the Employees app. There are three gift card permissions you can enable or disable for your employees:

• Add money to gift card: Lets employees activate or add money to gift cards.
• Cash out gift card: Lets employees convert a gift card to cash value.
• Load gift card without a payment: Lets employees add money to a gift card without payment from the customer.

To edit Gift Cards permissions:

1. Open the Employees app.
2. Tap PERMISSIONS.
3. Tap Gift Cards.
4. Select a checkbox to enable a permission for the employee role.

Sell Gift Cards

You can sell up to 20 gift cards of the same value in a single transaction. 
Some merchants are charged a 2.5% fee based on the total amount of the plastic or digital gift card.

To sell a plastic gift card:

1. Open the Gift Cards app.
2. Tap Sell a Gift Card; then tap Plastic Gift Card.
3. Enter the amount you want to load on the card.
4. Enter the card number, and then tap Next. You can also tap Tap to Swipe Card to swipe the gift card.
5. Select how you want to take the payment.
6. Follow the prompts to complete the payment. A receipt with the gift card information will print when you're finished.
7. Tap Done to complete the transaction and activate the card.

When a customer purchases a digital gift card, you can send them the card through SMS messaging or email. If you send the gift card through an SMS message, the customer must save the link in the message if they want to use the card at a later time. If the customer has the Gyft app, they can use the app to access their digital gift card at any time.

To sell a digital gift card:

1. Open the Gift Cards app.
2. Tap Sell a Gift Card; then tap Digital Gift Card.
3. Enter the amount you want to load on the card.
4. Enter the customer’s mobile phone number, then tap Next. You can also tap Use email to enter the customer’s email address.
5. Select how you want to take the payment.
6. Follow the prompts to complete the payment. A receipt with the gift card information will print when you're finished.
7. Tap Done to complete the transaction and activate the card.

Check gift card balance

The Gift Cards app provides an easy way for you to check how much money is left on a gift card. Just swipe the card or enter the card number to see the balance.

To check a gift card balance:

1. Open the Gift Cards app.
2. Tap Check Card Balance.
3. Select how you want to check the card balance. You can enter the card number, scan the card's barcode, or swipe the card.
4. Tap Print Balance to print the remaining balance for the customer.
5. Tap Done.

Load money onto a gift card

There’s no need to give customers a new gift card every time they've used all the funds on a card. You can simply add more funds to the card.

In addition, you can add money to a card without taking payment from customers. For example, if you want to give customers free gift card funds to use for a promo, you can add money to the gift card and select Add Without Paying.

To reload a gift card:

1. Open the Gift Cards app.
2. Tap Reload.
3. Select the way you want to reload the card by entering the card number, scanning the card's barcode, or swiping the card.
4. Enter the amount to load on the card, and then tap Next.
5. Select how you want to take the payment.
6. Follow the prompts to complete the payment and print the new balance of the gift card.
7. Tap Done.

Cash out a gift card

If your customer wants the money on their gift card in cash, you can cash out the gift card. When you cash out a gift card, it is recorded in the Cash Log app.

To cash out a gift card:

1. Open the Gift Cards app.
2. Tap Cash Out.
3. Do one of the following to cash out the card:
   • Enter the card number manually, tap Next, and then tap OK.
   • Tap Scan Card Barcode, scan the barcode with your Clover camera, and then tap OK.
   • Tap Tap to Swipe Card, swipe the gift card, and then tap OK.

After completing the transaction, the card balance is zero.

Issue a store credit

When you issue store credit on a gift card, you're giving your customer funds without charging them. You might do this as part of a promotion or cash back incentive.

To issue store credit to a plastic card:

1. Open the Gift Cards app.
2. Tap Issue Store Credit; then tap Plastic card.
3. Enter the amount of store credit to issue.
4. Enter the card number, then tap Next. You can also tap Tap to Swipe Card and then swipe the gift card.
5. Follow the prompts to complete the transaction. The Clover device will print out the total amount of store credit issued.
6. Tap Done.

To issue store credit to a digital card:

1. Open the Gift Cards app.
2. Tap Issue Store Credit; then tap Digital card.
3. Enter the amount of store credit to issue.
4. Enter the customer’s mobile number, then tap Next. You can also tap Use email to enter the customer’s email address instead.
5. Follow the prompts to complete the transaction. Your Clover device will print out the total amount of store credit issued.
6. Tap Done.

Redeem digital gift cards

To redeem digital gift cards:

1. When taking payments in the Register app or the Sale app, select Gift Cards.
2. Enter card number or select Scan Card Barcode to scan the gift card QR code on your customer’s phone or their printed copy.
3. Select Redeem.
