Instructions on how to setup a Clover Mini to the Clover Gateway (aka Payeezy / gge4).

Retail EMV on the Payeezy Gateway

The Payeezy Gateway now supports Retail EMV transaction processing utilizing the First Data Clover Mini device. This easily integrated solution brings full EMV compliance to Retail Face to Face transactions processed via the Gateway. This article will discuss setting up and configuring the Clover Mini to work with the Payeezy Gateway.

Two small applications need to be downloaded from the Clover App Market

  1. Clover Cloud Pay
  2. Payeezy Gateway Connector

In order to accomplish this simply:

  1. Select App Market on the Clover Dashboard
  2. When connected scroll to the option “Cloud Pay Display” and click the icon, select subscribe (download should begin)
  3. Repeat the above for the “Payeezy Gateway Connector” application
  4. Once completed return to the Clover Dashboard and click on the Cloud Pay Display icon, click on the Don’t remind me again check box and then select the green “Got It” option
  5. The Welcome screen should now be displayed and you are ready to associate the device.

It should be noted that a given Merchant can have multiple outlets or terminals associated with it so a given Merchant can have a Retail Outlet (with Clover), a MOTO outlet and an eCommerce outlet associated with it as shown in the example below.

Associating the Clover Mini device and Payeezy Gateway Terminal

Once the initial setup of the Clover Mini has been completed please follow the steps outlined below to associate the Clover Mini to the Payeezy Gateway.

Step 1:  On the Terminal types screen, the outlet Type must be set to Retail.

Step 2:  To enable Clover processing on a PGW retail terminal, the existing terminal type must be set to Normal Presentment as shown below.  Select Normal Presentment from the Pull down and click on the Update button.

Step 3:  Once the desired retail outlet has been selected, the Merchant-Admin will have the ability to ‘Enable Clover EMV’ for this terminal by checking the box labeled ‘Enable Clover EMV’ which will be available to all Retail terminals.

It must be noted that once the terminal is successfully enabled for Clover EMV, it is not possible for the Merchant-admin to switch it back. Also once enabled only Retail EMV transactions will be supported by this terminal (Sale and Refund), any current support for the API, HCO, Recurring, and other POS functionality (i.e. Level II and Level III processing) on this terminal will be disabled. Additionally other functionality such as AVS, CVV2, Fraud filtering along with Velocity controls do not apply to Clover terminals and therefor the related tabs will either not be visible or not be applicable. These features will continue to be supported for non-EMV Terminals (MOTO/eCommerce and unconverted Retail terminals).

Step 4:  Once you have clicked on the Enable Clover EMV option select Update for the change to take effect.

Step 5:  You must then return to the terminal that you have just enabled the Clover EMV option for.  You will now see the option (tab) for Clover EMV.

Step 6:  Next you must actually associate the Clover Mini device with the selected terminal, this is accomplished by clicking on the Clover EMV tab where you will be presented with the screen shown below. Click on the ‘Associate Terminal with Clover Device’ button.

Step 7:  You will be notified that this option cannot be reversed and provided an option to cancel or proceed, select the OK button.

Step 8:  You will then be redirect to the Clover website for device authentication. You will need to enter your Clover account credentials. See Clover Setup links above.

Step 9:  Once the step above has been completed you will be returned to the Payeezy Gateway, here you will now see the device that has been associated this terminal, you will need to select the device (click on the radio button next to the device serial number) and then click on the "Assign Device to Terminal" button. A message will be displayed upon successful association of the device with the terminal.

Step 10:  Select the update option in order for the association to take effect.

Note that if you need to delete the Clover credentials (you have received a new/replacement device for example), click the “Reset Clover credentials” button. Please note that the terminal will remain in EMV mode, resetting these credentials does not revert the terminal back to pre-EMV operations.  Once complete you can associate the new/replacement device to this terminal.  Please note that a given terminal can only have one Clover EMV device associated with it.

Once reset you will see that the credentials have successfully been deleted as shown below, you can now associate your new device using the steps outlined above.
