Clover Mini: I cannot add tips to my order / transaction

Do you have the Tips app installed?

Ensure that you have the Tips Tips app icon app installed from the App Market:

Install an app

  1. Tap App Market
  2. Search or scroll to find the app you wish to install
  3. Tap the app
  4. If prompted, tap the radio button next to the subscription plan
  5. Tap Install or Subscribe (if the app has a subscription or not)
  6. Tap the Accept & Install button to confirm the install
  7. Wait for install to complete
  8. Open the app


    Note

    If you install or uninstall an app, you should see the change in seconds (depending on download speeds if you’re installing an app). If you don’t see the change you expect, tap the Sync button in the upper right corner of the screen.



 

Do you have the correct permissions to access tips?

Ensure that you have the correct permissions to access Orders Orders - App Iconapp and Tips Tips app icon app.

If you are not an admin, please ask an admin to ensure that you have the correct permissions.

Change permissions for an employee role

  1. Open Employees app Employees - App Icon
  2. Tap Menu icon (three horizontal lines at the top left of the screen)
  3. Tap Permissions
  4. Tap on an app to view permissions
  5. Apps with more granular permissions will have a dropdown menu called “View App Permissions”
  6. Click this dropdown to reveal the various permissions within that app
  7. Check and uncheck the boxes for the role and app permissions you wish to change
  8. Changes are saved automatically


 

Did you batch out already?

Once you close (either manually or automatically), the transactions associated with that batch are no longer available for tip adjustments.

If the order has already been batched out, but you did not yet add tips for that order, you can contact Clover Support to help you adjust transactions after the fact. You can find your Clover Support phone number by logging into your Web dashboard and finding your Clover support phone number in the Support box.

Have the following ready when you call in to do a manual tip adjustment:

  • Your Merchant ID Number: To verify your identity, you will be asked to provide your Merchant ID Number.
  • Physical receipts: These can be faxed or emailed when necessary.
  • Tip amounts: These should be on the physical receipt.

If you are set to auto close, please check to ensure that you have enough time each night to input your tips before batching out.


 

Did you recently enable the addition of tips?

Enabling tips isn’t retroactive, meaning that any transactions processed before you enabled tips will not be available for a tip adjustment and will not appear in the Tips app.


 

Are tips enabled on your account?

To see if tips are enabled:

  1. Go to the Web Dashboard.
  2. Click the Setup Setup app icon app.
  3. Tap the Payments section.

If you see the message “Your merchant account is not set up to accept tips. Please contact Clover Support to enable tips” you will need to contact Clover Customer Support to enable tipping. If you see a checkbox with the phrase “Ask for tips”, ensure that the checkbox is checked.


 

Are you using a demo account?

If you’re a sales representative or other related Clover affiliate, you may have a demo Clover account. Because of the way demo accounts are set up, the Tips Tips app icon app won’t populate with transaction data.
